Interview With a Tarot Master: Amaretto

Describe how you first found out about your psychic abilities.

I had a wildly vivid dream when I was just a toddler about looking down from a high place into an operation room in a hospital. It wasn’t really anything special or exciting, but I remember recounting this dream to my mother when I was around 14 years old, and she told me that I had an operation on my ear when I had barely learned to walk. I believe that this was my first out-of-body experience.

After researching OOBE, I began experimenting with astral projection as well as studying divination of all forms. While I did very quickly achieve astral projection, I ALSO very quickly discovered that, as a natural empath, it is far too overwhelming an experience for me emotionally, so I stopped pursuing it… but it was a “gateway drug” that led me to where I am today.

I continued to study divination into my adulthood, focusing primarily on palmistry and Tarot (I also dabbled in astrology). I should emphasize that I was studying, not practising, and that it was for many years carried out in secret; I was raised in a very traditionally conservative Christian household, and when my mother discovered that I was studying Tarot, she was horrified and (unsuccessfully) forbade me from it. She told me that she herself used to read Tarot, and when she began to watch unfortunate predictions come true, she stopped. I don’t know if she was simply trying to scare me off, or if a touch for Tarot does in fact run in my family.

Something that DID stop me from physically practising Tarot for a very long time: I was urgently warned by many of my more spiritually attuned friends not to buy my own Tarot deck… that it ABSOLUTELY HAD TO be given to me. In 2012, I received my first Tarot deck as a gift and I finally began to put my study to practice. That may be the first time I truly and completely felt that I was “gifted”.

What have you done to develop your abilities?

Although my focus has learned primarily on Tarot, I have studied Tarot and palmistry with increasing fervor for around 10 years. As far as developing my skills beyond book studies, I read for myself twice daily and have been providing readings for others in a non-professional environment since 2012. While I used to provide palmistry readings for others, I have chosen to center myself entirely on Tarot in order to maintain as much focus as possible.

Describe your skills.

While I have mentioned that I have other abilities and experience, I consider myself exclusively a Tarot reader. What’s more, I strongly prefer to work in a traditional Celtic Cross spread. I have a very close personal tie to this spread and a developed interpretation of it, so I find that it gives me the clearest possible messages, hands down. So this is what I read for others.

Before beginning a reading, I shuffle my cards and focus myself entirely on the subject to be read. Ideally I prefer to focus on a question or particular area of someone’s life, which improves a reading’s straight-forwardness significantly, but during an open reading I will focus solely on the person I am reading for. Once I can feel in my hands that the cards have completely “calibrated” themselves to the subject and are ready to speak to me, I cut the deck and begin the Celtic Cross reading by laying out the first two cards. Usually, I translate each individual card and it’s placement as I go, but if I sense a strong need to lay out more of the spread before I have received the exact message my cards intend for me to relay, I will.

I find that, as an empath, I have a natural knack for translation readings focused on relationships. Interestingly, I have a particularly potent relationship with the Pentacles suite, and so I also feel confident in my abilities towards career and finance-based readings.

Are you able to turn your psychic abilities ‘on’ or ‘off’ when you want to?

Tarot is a fairly controlled art, so I don’t think that this is entirely applicable. But I am extremely ritualistic when it comes to beginning and ending a reading, and I don’t believe that my cards will communicate with me properly if I do not respect them in this way.

What is life like living with these abilities?

Generally speaking, studying and reading Tarot has done nothing but improve my life in every single area.

On a personal level, I find that I understand myself, my impact on the world, and my relationship to the workings of everything around me with a clarity that I certainly would not have without Tarot. Through Tarot, I can help people in a way that no one else can, and I see people achieve happiness through the guidance my readings have provided them. It is the most rewarding feeling in the world! I can’t even express it properly. I have bonded with people during in-person readings on such a deep level. It’s beautiful.

Fully embracing Tarot is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Do you think anyone can develop psychic skills?

I think that depends vastly on what skills you are describing. I myself don’t believe that everyone is born with the ability to communicate with spirits, to read the thoughts and emotions of others, to see the future, etc.

BUT my belief in regards to what I personally bring to the table is that anyone with a strong genuine desire to read Tarot, can read Tarot. I believe that it requires a ridiculous amount of patience… years of study, practice, and introspection. It requires an incredibly open-mind and pure motives. And it requires you to trust yourself, which is very difficult.

What do you like best about working with PsychicNetworkers?

So far, I would say that I love the warm, welcoming community here and the opportunity to help people who sincerely wish to be helped. Everyone has such an open mind and a wonderful receptiveness, a willingness to share and interact. It’s important to me that when I do a reading for someone, they feel comfortable involving themselves in the experience.

Do you get readings for yourself?

I read for myself every day, and usually it’s extremely easy. If my mind is clouded by a lot of emotion or negative energy, I don’t read for myself. I haven’t had anyone read for me in many years, although I am interested in changing that soon!

Is there anything else you would like to share about your abilities?

Keep this in mind when you feel lost: “Everything will be okay in the end — if it’s not okay, it’s not the end.” Although I don’t gloss over or sugar-coat any negative messages that present themselves with me, something important for me to emphasize is that my cards HAVE NEVER given me unpleasant news without ALSO providing an answer on how to change things for the better.

My goal is to help you improve your life by opening your eyes to the things that you cannot see, and giving you the tools you can’t give yourself. Just remember that sometimes you have to put those tools to use!
