Interview With a Tarot Reader: Mari

Describe how you first found out about your psychic abilities.

My mother was psychic and my father was half Blackfoot Indian. His Grandmother used to make protective satchels for him to wear to school every day. My gifts came naturally. When I was young, “knowing” just seemed natural, and I didn’t speak of it much. But in my early twenties, one day I had a vision of myself walking to my mailbox and receiving a grant for a lot of money. One week later, having forgotten the vision, I walked to my mailbox, “coincidentally” wearing the exact outfit as my vision, and there was the grant! Shortly after, another psychic gave me a deck of cards and two books, and I use them to this day.

What have you done to develop your abilities?

I took weekly classes from a psychic in my twenties. She called it an “awareness” class. We were not allowed to write anything down. I hung on her every word, as she taught us about vibrations, numerology, and visions. Now I work with other psychic teachers and colleagues to learn expanded techniques.

Describe your skills.

During a psychic reading, I see images for and about you and have a sense of “knowing” as soon as I hear your voice. Sometimes the images are symbolic, and sometimes they are literal. Then I do a tarot reading for you, combining my psychic knowing with the Tarot cards. The readings become more profound and meaningful as more and more is revealed and (often profound) connections are made. I love it. In the end, I always refer back to the image I first received for you, and the reading comes full circle. My unique service is receiving and understanding images, my sense of knowing, and true empathy.

Can you communicate with spirits who have passed on?

I communicate weekly with my mother and father who have both passed. I do not categorize myself as a medium so my clients do not ask me to communicate with loved ones or others who have passed. My psychic knowing may, however, include information about a parent; either alive or one who has passed.

Are you able to turn your psychic abilities ‘on’ or ‘off’ when you want to?

A lot of people ask me if I can turn my psychic knowing on or off at will. On a day-to-day basis, my psychic and clairvoyant knowing is always “on” and I receive messages all the time. However, for in-depth understanding of a particular question or issue, I have various tools that allow me to delve deeper and receive answers. In these cases, I need a quiet area, free of distractions from the outside world.

What is life like living with these abilities?

These skills are very personal to me, and they have always been part of my life in one form or another. I never knew that I had “special” talents in this area until I realized that people consistently told me that things I casually predicted came true, and things I presumed about people and situations were always accurate. At times it can be lonely, and at times it feels like I am connected to something that I would not be able to live without. Living with these gifts, it is easier for me to say “yes” and “no” to things because I have a knowing that surpasses time and space.

Do you think anyone can develop psychic skills?

Anyone can develop a skill, but developing a gift is different. Yes, everyone has intuition, and everyone can learn to trust it or not – but a true psychic and clairvoyant gift cannot be learned; it can only be imitated.

What do you like best about working with PsychicNetworkers?

My favorite thing about working with PsychicNetwokers is connecting with someone in a meaningful way – someone I will never see. To me, the connection is very close to what I describe as divine.

Do you get readings for yourself?

When I first began, I gave Tarot readings for myself to make sure I understood the meaning of the cards outside my psychic knowing. I no longer do this because the Tarot readings just confirm what I already know. Also, it is not easy to be objective with readings for myself, and objectivity allows me to go deeper into readings – there is no personal history or desire at stake; the reading is very clean and clear. When I want a reading, I go to my friends and colleagues who are psychics and astrologers.

Is there anything else you would like to share about your abilities?

One of my favorite stories is very simple. I was away on a business trip, and one night as I lay in bed I had a vision of the most ordinary thing; a penny. No shooting stars, no rainbows, nothing fancy, just a plain old penny. I asked the penny what it was there to tell me, it said “You are just like this penny. You need to decide right now – are you worthless, or are you lucky?” The question shook me to my core. The next day, I hopped on a plane to fly home. Tired and still a bit taken back by the message from the penny, I walked to the airport curb where my friend was going to pick me up. When she arrived, I opened the passenger car door, looked down, and saw that the entire floor was filled with PENNIES! Hundreds and hundreds of pennies! I couldn’t believe it. Astonished at this sight, I asked my friend why there were hundreds of pennies on the. She replied that she was on her way to change the pennies into dollars, but h er gallon jar of pennies opened and they fell all over the floor.
