Interview With a Tarot Reader: Lady Zoe

Describe how you first found out about your psychic abilities.

I first started to notice that there might be something different about me when I was very young. From some of my earliest memories, I remember that I often felt like I’d been someplace or seen an exact scenario before. My dreams were coming to life, or so I thought. At that age, I had no idea that I had a gift known as “premonition.” It wasn’t that my dreams were coming true so much as they were foretelling what was already true and just yet to be!

It was hard growing up with this skill. I often felt on edge. Was last night’s nightmare a foreshadowing of terrible events to come or, in fact, just a dream. Over time, I was able to tune into details and use my own intuition to accurately determine which dreams were premonitions and which were just an average dream.

I also found relief in knowing I was not alone in having this gift. My mother also had this ability. She could always sense impending danger or accurately predict the outcome of certain scenarios. She claimed it was just mother’s intuition. However, the more she told me about it – especially in relation to dreams – the more I realized we had a gift that was being passed down in our family.

What have you done to develop your abilities?

Most of my training has been solitary or through study with my coven. While I have no formal training to speak of, I have worked very hard to become well versed and educated in divination. It is my personal belief that self-discipline and constant practice are the biggest keys to success when developing and fostering one’s own psychic abilities.

Describe your skills.

The first thing that happens in a reading with me is introductions. Hearing your voice before a reading helps me to really tune in and get a feel for your energy; being on a first name basis, also allows us to establish a relaxed and personal atmosphere. Once you are comfortable and ready to begin, I will start your reading. You are welcome to ask any questions that may come to mind during the course of your reading. Readings are primarily conducted using Tarot cards; however, I also employ other divination techniques such as astrology and numerology.

A feature unique to my readings is advice on how to best proceed with the knowledge gained from the cards.

Can you communicate with spirits who have passed on?

I have communicated with spirits of the deceased on a few occasions. It is not something that I can on-demand. I have had good results using spirit boards before; however, with such tools, you are often at the will of the spirits. If the spirits do not wish to communicate, they will not interact with the board.

There have been a select few occasions in which I have been contacted by the spirits of deceased relatives. These cases have almost all be through my dream visions. However, they have reached me through spirit boards a time or two.

Are you able to turn your psychic abilities ‘on’ or ‘off’ when you want to?

My psychic abilities seem to be permanently in the “on” position. Occasionally, I will do rituals to help focus my energy. Anymore, it is very rare that my abilities interrupt my day-to-day life.

What is life like living with these abilities?

As I mentioned earlier, I did have a fair amount of anxiety rooted in my uncertainty as to what dreams were dreams and which were truly premonitions. However, as I’ve practiced honing my skills, I have gained more control and been able to decipher between the two. This has greatly helped to eliminate any issues my abilities might cause.

I do believe some aspects of my life are made easier by my abilities. For example, I believe it is easier for me to “look before I leap.”

Do you think anyone can develop psychic skills?

I believe psychic skills are like any other talent like singing or athletics. Some people are born with a higher aptitude; however, with dedication and practice, anyone can develop psychic abilities to at least some extent. Even some of the most talented psychics started with little to no innate abilities. A little bit of discipline goes a long way.

I do get readings for myself from time to time. When I look for a reader, I seek someone who is honest and sincere and who doesn’t push gimmicks. I’ve always considered myself pretty easy to read for; however, I have difficulty reading for myself. In fact, I believe many psychics have trouble reading for themselves, as they are likely to be influenced by their own wishes.
