From My Dream Journal: Turning into Animals

“Lush green forests, the air so fresh…still. No garbage trucks or car horns, neighbor’s loud music and such. I am away, in a field of lush…green…trees. I am dreaming lucidly, taking a step in my alternate reality. One step actually two? Two legs…four? My spine is extended flipping left to right. I am a jaguar…dreaming lucidly…on the prowl in my lush, green forest.

“The spots in my coat are so rich, shiny. How far can I make these stretch? I ease back on my haunches and separate my vertebrae one disk as a time, extending all of my claws and stretch my mouth wide. Let my fangs get some sunshine. Lick a paw, wash my face. Twist around, wash my back. Waterhole nearby…hold that thought. The whiskers on my left side saw an antelope in the distance. Breakfast.

“I crouch low in the grass, dreaming lucidly… I open my eyes, human again. I’m back to reality but wild cat’s instinct remained.”

-from Indygo J. Muse’s Dream Journal

The human way of life and modern technology make it quite easy to forget that we, too are animals. When we forget this, we tend to ignore basic instinct. This leaves us vulnerable to spiritual, financial, and other waking life attacks that perhaps we could have avoided had we been properly in tune with our primitive essence. Dreams of animals speak to our primitive natures, among their other meanings.

If you have been dreaming of turning into an animal, it may indicate a direct need to pay closer attention to your primitive nature, no matter what animal you turned into. Pay close attention to the characteristics of the animal that you turned into, and how its instinctive traits correlate to yours. Do they compare or contrast? Are the similarities/differences subtle or intense? How are these traits affecting your waking life? Are they positive or negative effects? What lesson is the animal trying to teach? Dreams of turning into an animal is also an indication of rejuvenating primitive energy by re-visiting a past life as that animal. A good sign of that is the transmutation feeling natural and painless, even jubilation.

If the transmutation was uncomfortable, then there is an imbalance in your primitive spirit. Don’t fret if this happens. Start by taking the time to learn as much as you can about the animal you dreamed. The animal that you changed into in the dream came to you to reveal the imbalance, maybe more so to tell you to fix it. Revealing any type of imbalance gives way to a new avenue of your life for growth and balance regain.
